Brian Cournoyer, Director Government Relations, Connecticut Hospital Association
Brian has served as CHA’s Director of Government Relations since 2006, advocating for healthcare policies at local, state, and federal levels. He is CHA’s point of contact for emergency preparedness and is involved with the Governor’s Advisory Council on Organ Donation and Assumption University’s nursing advisory board. Previously, Brian was Legislative Director for Massachusetts Senator Richard Moore, where he played a key role in healthcare legislation, including the 2006 universal healthcare law. He has extensive experience in state government and campaign advising.
Karen Buckley, Vice President Advocacy, Connecticut Hospital Association
Karen has been Vice President of Advocacy for the Connecticut Hospital Association since 2015, after serving as Director of Government Relations. She leads CHA’s advocacy efforts, developing strategies to align with the Association’s Strategic Plan and collaborating with external groups, including state agencies. Karen advocates for legislative and regulatory improvements for member hospitals and patients and leads the Connecticut Healthcare Association Collaborative to improve public policy and care quality. Before joining CHA in 2011, Karen spent 12 years at the Connecticut Department of Public Health, where she managed government relations and legislative programs.
