Happy Fall
Congratulations to our newest fellow Kimberley Palma, FACHE.

A warm welcome to our 2024-2025 Higher Education Network students, student leaders, and faculty advisors. The seven HEN Universities have started their meetings in collaboration with CTAHE. I have enjoyed attending these events and meeting the new & returning students, student leaders and faculty advisors. CTAHE held a Welcome Back event on September 12th. Appreciation and thanks to HEN Co-Chairs Tami Mccumons and Stephen Liebowitz and HEN Committee for planning such a great event with 31 students that attended representing the following HEN schools: Charter Oak State College, Quinnipiac University, Southern CT State University, University of New Haven and Yale University.
Just a reminder this is my last year as Regent. The Regent election launched Monday, Sept. 30 and goes through Friday, Oct. 18. All eligible voters will receive an email with the ballot and ACHE will send multiple reminders to those who have not voted leading up to the deadline. Eligible voters are all Fellows, Members and Life Fellows in the Connecticut Regent Area.
The ACHE 2024 Chapter Leaders Conference in Chicago titled “Big Ideas Moving Forward Together” was held in September with over 200 volunteers in attendance. CTAHE President Austin B. Potter, FACHE, Vice President Ysmael A. Peguero, DBA, FACHE, Treasurer Ethan Kurtzman, and Secretary Stephen H. Liebowitz, DHA were in attendance. Chapter Leaders Conference is an excellent opportunity to spend time with chapter leaders across the country and share best practices. This year’s keynote “Be the Best Part of their Day: Supercharging Communication with Values-Driven Leadership” Speaker: David L. Schreiner, PhD, FACHE, Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital and Panelists Jorge Amaro, FACHE, ACHE of Central Florida, Aaron M. Bujnowski, FACHE, ACHE North Texas and Carle-Marie P. Memmon, DHA, FACHE, Healthcare Leaders of New York. The Regent Think Tank exercise this year was focused upon the Higher Education Network and intended outcomes; driving toward the development of a strategy that aligns responsibility between Regents, chapters and ACHE to engage students and Higher Education Network Programs, identifying the priorities that have the biggest impact on HEN/student engagement and articulating how Regents, chapters and ACHE can work collaboratively to support these priorities by discussing the level of desired responsibility from each group.
The CTAHE Board bi-annual strategic planning event will be held on October 10th and will be focused upon similar topics presented at the Chapter Leaders Conference—continuing to focus upon our students, membership, and emerging healthcare leaders.
I am happy to share the availability of the new ACHE Inclusive Leadership Competencies Assessment Tool to help leaders assess and foster inclusive cultures and lead through the lens of equity.
Congratulations & welcome to Jim Zheng, FACHE who has been appointed the interim Regent-at-Large for District 1 through March 2026. Jim is currently the Director of Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Needham in Massachusetts and will soon be transitioning to a new role as Senior Director of Radiology Clinical Operations at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
