What is a trait you admire most when you see it in your colleagues? Candor, honesty, willingness to include various individuals for projects/operations
A successful day at work is: Putting out fires as they occur, making progress and moving vision forward through effective operations
What is a career achievement you are most proud of? Developing an IPU to manage spine pain effectively. It was so effective we reduced surgical rate by 15% and became included in the state of CT network of distinction
What is an area you are looking to improve in your own life? To perfect time management so I can have time with family, exercise, do chores and develop myself professionally
What does it look like for you to ‘unplug’ from work? Spending time with my wife and kids, riding my bike or running
What is your greatest motivation? I’m generally internally self motivated to solve healthcare problems, fix things around the house, improve myself. I like to see successes and then improve upon them.
What do you think are the greatest challenges/opportunities for the healthcare industry right now? The inability of “healthcare” to appropriately deliver health to patients- whether it’s poor access, too high costs, the desire to do things or any number of other ways we fail patients. As a system we don’t effectively deliver health or prioritize well-being.
What drove you to pursue Fellow status? The desire to learn more about healthcare management outside of the physical therapy profession, advance my career.
What do you believe is the greatest benefit you have gotten from being an ACHE member? Continuing education
What advice do you have for young professionals considering a career in healthcare? Healthcare is unlike any other profession, it should be enjoyable and hopefully anyone entering healthcare now wants to improve it to ensure health is the end goal is the most cost-effective manners.
