What was your first job in healthcare?
Working as a Food and Nutrition aide at Hartford Hospital.
What is a trait you admire most when you see it in your colleagues?
The ability to collaborate in an effective manner even if we are not all in alignment.
What is your favorite book that gave you insight into your career?
John Maxwell’s 5 Levels of Leadership. It helped me understand how leaders can maximize their potential if they understand what motivates people to follow them.
A successful day at work is: Where the Team has successfully implemented a new strategy.
What is a career achievement you are most proud of?
Achieving my FACHE. It opened the door to meeting inspiring leaders as well allow for continuous self-improvement.
What is an area you are looking to improve in your own life?
Better health. Taking care of yourself first and foremost allows you to be energized to achieve more.
What does it look like for you to ‘unplug’ from work?
Right now, it’s in my pool with my family.
What is your greatest motivation?
Working with positive and driven colleagues. They motivate me to do more, achieve more, and get out of my comfort zone.
What do you think are the greatest challenges/opportunities for the healthcare industry right now?
Outside of labor, the challenge is the fragmentation of care as tech health companies vie for lives. Some are truly working together with providers like health systems to manage the continuum of care. Some are interested solely in profits and truly not the coordination of care.
What drove you to pursue Fellow status?
My desire to continuously learn more about the industry outside of my current job role.
What do you believe is the greatest benefit you have gotten from being an ACHE member?
I have met inspirational leaders that I look up to.
What advice do you have for young professionals considering a career in healthcare?
Don’t be afraid to raise your hand to accept a new assignment You may learn something new.
