What did you want to be when you grew up?
A Nurse.
A successful day at work is…
Helping a patient/ family, team member, or provider provide support or remove barriers to help make their care and/or job easier.
What motivates you each week?
I absolutely love the work, the mission of healthcare and the positive difference I hope to make in someone’s life whether small or big.
What do you think are the greatest challenges/ opportunities for Connecticut’s healthcare industry to tackle in the next 10 years? 20 years?
The shift from inpatient to outpatient models of care, payer payment structure and antiquated models of reimbursement, continued need to focus on core basics of hospitals and increasing regulatory oversight while dealing with challenges to recruit and retain staff i.e. workforce shortages etc..
Why did you decide to be a board member?
I really enjoy CTAHE, it is like a family of healthcare professionals from all areas and disciplines of healthcare. Those whom brought me to CTAHE have been amazing mentors and lifelong friends.
What do you believe is the greatest benefit you have gotten from being an ACHE member?
I have met so many people across the US and the world – the network is limitless and the ability to connect in professional and personal ways. It is refreshing to be able to send a note, text, email, call or talk in person with others who understand the journey and path we take to get here and how what we do matters to patients and families in the highest possible way.
What advice would you give to an early careerist?
Put yourself out there with others at work and in your professional organizations. Don’t be afraid to volunteer, raise your hand, ask questions, and be vulnerable and humble on your professional path. Worry less about titles and more about immersing yourself into the experience- whatever it may be.
