Dear CTAHE Friends,
I am deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of CTAHE Student Board Member, Chris Rogers (also known as Orkan Olgac). Chris graduated from the University of Connecticut Honors Program in December with a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management and a Minor in Analytics, and was President of UConn’s Healthcare Management Society.
On behalf of the Connecticut Association of Healthcare Executives, I extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Chris’ family and friends. He will be missed as he was a great contributor in such a short time to our board, members and our future healthcare leaders.
I personally enjoyed my time working with Chris this past year and I was impressed by his energy, passion and spirit. Within the moment of him being introduced to me, I knew that he was bound to do great things. He was empathetic, compassionate and humble; all great attributes of a leader.
When I learned of his passing today, I was struck with a loss for words. Right now I am holding close to me this quote: “Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same.” – Unknown.
In honor of Chris the CTAHE Board will offer a moment of silence prior to our monthly board meeting on Wednesday, January 20, a dedication during our early careerist webinar on Thursday, January 21, and will plant a grove of trees in Chris’ name.
Kimberly A. Lumia, CTAHE President
