Message from your ACHE Regent
Spring 2024
Happy Spring! I feel excited having just returned from the 2024 ACHE Congress “Big Ideas. Make No Small Plans” where over 5,400 healthcare leaders came together to attend educational sessions on a variety of tracks and topics, and participate in networking opportunities. The weekend prior to Congress, I spent Saturday with the ACHE leadership team, officers, Governors and fellow Regents at the Regents Leadership Conference.
This year’s “Think Tank” exercise focused upon diving into the ACHE Strategic Plan, led by the Chartis Group, as we are at inflection points in both healthcare and the Higher Education Network. Our work groups focused on answering the following questions “Which fundamental changes or trends occurring in healthcare ecosystem will most ask for from future healthcare leaders?” and “What capabilities and competencies will future healthcare leaders need to develop that most don’t have today?”. Please see the top responses (n=190).
Our ACHE District 1 Governors are Michael K. Givens, FACHE (Arkansas) and Solomon A. Torres, FACHE (New York). I want to congratulate and welcome the new ACHE Chair William P. Santulli, FACHE and Chair-Elect Michele K. Sutton, FACHE. On Sunday March 24, I attended the 90th Convocation Ceremony where we celebrated the 718 new ACHE Fellows—with 235 new Fellows participating in person in Chicago. I would like to recognize CTAHE 2023 Fellows:
- Sharon Adams, FACHE
- Jennifer Farley, FACHE
- Albert N. Lamptey, FACHE
- Justin B. Lundbye, MD FACHE
- Jillian K. Menzel, FACHE
- Jaclyn V. O’Connor, MD, FACHE
- Teresa Papstein, FACHE
- Sokhak So, PharmD, FACHE
- John Sponauer, FACHE
The opening session at Congress featured Daniel Pink with excerpts from his new book “The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward” and the findings associated with his “World Regret Survey” from 16,000 people in 105 countries. CTAHE had 62 members attend Congress this year. Congratulations to CTAHE for being one of 20 chapters recognized at Congress this year for the 2024 Award of Chapter Merit and Sustained Performance. Under the leadership of Stephen H. Liebowitz, DHA, Co-Chair of HEN & Sponsorship, CTAHE organized the second 2024 Inter-Chapter Congress Dinner with CTAHE, ACHE of MA, ACHE of New England, and ACHE-RI at Ocean Prime. A huge thanks and appreciation to the event sponsor Exact Sciences (also a national ACHE Premiere Corporate Partner).
Please feel free to visit the CTAHE website for all upcoming events.

Read and Contribute to the ACHE Blog
Our blog shares relevant and meaningful insights from healthcare leaders and features articles on current trends in the field, first-person pieces, and profiles of ACHE members. Check out the blog today. ACHE is looking for members to contribute to the blog. Is your healthcare organization leading the way in delivery of care innovation? Did you implement a program at your organization that other leaders could replicate? Is there a board or committee member in your chapter who would be a great subject for a Q&A? If you would like to contribute to the blog, please contact Caitlin E. Stine, communications editor, Department of Communications and Marketing, at cstine@ache.org.

2025 Congress on Healthcare Leadership
Save the date for the 2025 Congress on Healthcare Leadership, March 24–27 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
I have officially entered my last year of my term of Regent for Connecticut, which ends in March 2025. Most recently, I have had the pleasure of connecting 1:1 with several healthcare leaders in our state. If you are interested in learning more about being a Regent and my experience, please don’t hesitate to contact me. ACHE’s Council of Regents is made up of leaders elected by their districts to represent their members and influence the greater good of the organization. With an understanding of ACHE’s policies, programs and services, and the needs of their districts, the Council harnesses their collective skill and will to advance ACHE’s vision, mission and values. In addition to providing advice and counsel to the Board of Governors, the Council also has the important responsibility of electing the Board of Governors and its Chair. It is through the Council’s governance support that the Board of Governors is able to steer our national organization and carry out ACHE’s mission through a rich ecosystem.
Here are a few important details regarding the Regent election process:
- All candidates must complete the Letter of Intent and submit it to elections@ache.org by Friday, September 13. No late submissions are accepted, even in areas where no candidate is received by the deadline.
- Each candidate must be a Fellow in good standing as of September 13.
- For geographic Regent Areas, candidates must live and work in the Regent area they will represent. Unique situations may arise and any questions about eligibility should be directed to me.
