Recently, I received the following two awards in the mail. It reminded me how truly active and accomplished the Connecticut ACHE chapter is. We have won numerous awards over the past few years- including awards for important initiatives as Diversity, Inclusion and Equity. We know from our hospital performance improvement initiatives that changing behaviors is challenging- but sustaining them is the most difficult.
This Chapter has won the Sustained Achievement award for three years running. Kudos to the CTAHE Board of very dedicated Directors, our indomitable committee chairs, our student board members, committee volunteers and to each of you that make each and every event a resounding success.
Thank you to our players and vendors that made our 8th Annual Golf Tourney on May 23rd a sold-out success. The Golf Committee definitely hit a beauty with a fabulous day, great food and drinks with many laughs to be had on the course. Thank you Rob Weiss and the whole Golf Committee! We are set for next year at Tunxis on May 21, 2024- Save that date! We are thinking of two flights to help accommodate the demand for players.
The success of our golf tourney is a result of the generous sponsorship we receive. I’d like to take a moment to thank our golf sponsors:
Last month we celebrated our return-face-to-face events with our Annual Meeting at the Aqua Turf. We “tailgated” the CHA Annual Meeting as we had done for years. It was such a nice opportunity to see friends and colleagues in person, hear about issues related to staffing “burnout” from our esteemed panelists and conduct some necessary annual business. They say you often never appreciate something until its gone. We had lost the face-to-face meetings for a couple years and it was so very nice to see everyone in a room once again!
The accomplishments continue. Year to date, we have recognized four new fellows to the chapter. Once again, they are:
- Albert N. Lamptey, FACHE
- Jillian Menzel, FACHE
- Jaclyn V. O’Connor, MD, FACHE
- John Sponauer, FACHE
Please congratulate them if you know or see them on this momentous accomplishment.
We are in the throes of putting together an exciting event at Mohegan Sun in September in conjunction with Intuitive about the emerging role of robotics in surgery. We’ll hear from their experts on their plans to integrate AI. This one-day event will allow for a number of exciting topics to be heard and a chance for folks to actually sit and control a DaVinci robot.
Please continue to check out our website for more events. There are many more informative and fun events in the works! CTAHE has some excellent upcoming events, make sure to visit the website to learn more:
