Message from your ACHE Regent | Winter 2023
Happy & Merry Everything!
Congratulations to the new ACHE Fellows; Sharon Adams, FACHE, Jennifer Farley, FACHE and Justin B. Lundbye, FACHE. The Connecticut Association of Healthcare Executives is excited to welcome 100 new members thus far this year.
Congratulations and thanks to Higher Education Network Co-Chairs Stephen H. Liebowitz, DHA and Tami A. McCumons, FACHE for the excellent programing for the Higher Education Network. The HEN Student Mixer in October was a great success. In November the “Connecticut Healthcare Exploration Event” with 30 HEN students in attendance at Yale New Haven Health. Students attended a Panel Discussion and tour of the facilities. This event provided the HEN students the opportunity to network with healthcare executives and explore different roles in the Healthcare Industry. I would like to thank the Yale New Haven Health panelists for their participation and time: Cynthia Sparer, Executive Vice President & President Ambulatory Services, Yale New Haven Health, Michael D. Holmes, Executive Vice President & COO, Yale New Haven Hospital and Jorge Rodriguez, Senior Vice President & COO, Clinician Enterprise YNHHS & Yale University.
CTAHE Strategic Annual Planning event was held on October 18. Thank you, Austin B. Potter, FACHE, Vice President/President Elect and Stephen H. Liebowitz, DHA, Co-Chair HENs/Sponsorship for their facilitation and planning of the strategic event. The topics discussed included New Board Member Orientation, review of the bylaws and leadership manual, co-chair roles and responsibilities, 2023 Year in Review, ACHE 2023 Chapter Leaders Insights and a look ahead to 2024. In February 2024, there will be a tactical meeting planned to provide ongoing review of the CTAHE 2024 – 2026 Strategic Plan performance, Chapter Dashboard and key performance indicators. Other topics discussed included creation of an Advisory Board and Election Cycle change in alignment with ACHE. CTAHE was officially chartered as an ACHE chapter on November 8, 2004 and will celebrate 20 years in 2024!

Save the Date to Apply for ACHE Graduate Student Scholarships
Online applications for the 2024 Dent and McGaw Scholarships will open January 2. Offered annually, the Albert W. Dent and Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students enrolled in their final year of graduate programs in health services administration to help finance their education. The Albert W. Dent Student Scholarship is designated for racially and/or ethnically diverse, as well as LGBTQ+ students, only. Each scholarship is worth $5,000. Every year, ACHE awards up to a total of 15 scholarships. To learn more, visit the Albert W. Dent and Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarship webpages for more information.
ACHE is on a bold mission to raise $1 million for the Fund for Healthcare Leadership by March 2025. Scholarships from the Fund help diverse, talented individuals acquire the skills and training they need to forge a career path in healthcare leadership. The Fund supports participation in ACHE’s Career Accelerator Program, the Executive Program and the Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program, as well as additional educational opportunities presented during the year. Your support matters! Without donor funding, these programs cannot exist. The need is greater than ever. Please consider a personal gift to the Fund and/or one from your organization.
Please feel free to visit the CTAHE website for all upcoming events. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season, a Merry Happy Everything and a healthy, happy & prosperous New Year.
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
